Although, as in the previous week, most operators did not change their purchase prices, at the beginning of the new season, the price corridor expanded to 74-77+ UAH/kg. In particular, higher prices are recorded in the East, where the shortage of live stock is the most noticeable, while the lowest prices are observed in the West of the country. However, this did not have a significant impact on the market average: in early March, it stopped at 74.6 UAH/kg.
At the same time, the minimum price for chilled pork carcasses in skin was adjusted. Thus, if a week earlier the lowest price was 107 UAH/kg, this week in the western regions there are offers of 105 UAH/kg. In addition to increased internal competition between suppliers of carcasses, meat processors note a number of other factors that usually create prerequisites for revising purchase prices: low trade activity at all sales links, the beginning of fasting, deterioration in slaughter yields, etc. However, most of them agree that these factors balance out the available supply of live bait. Therefore, although some of the procurers are not ready to assess further changes in quotations, the majority is inclined to further price stability in the absence of clear market signals that herald their change.
