BRAZIL - Another Brazilian slaughterhouse has been authorised to export pork to China. The decision was announced to a unit located in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais.

The mission of the Chinese health authorities in Brazil was held in late 2010. From this visit were established exchanges of information between the veterinary services of the two countries that culminated in enabling this setting. Currently, three pork slaughterhouses are able to sell their products to China, one of Goias and two of Santa Catarina.

Brazil remains in talks to extend this list. The Agriculture Ministry expects another 14 establishments to be able to export pork to China in the first half of 2012. The Chinese veterinary inspection service is reviewing the documentation and will decide whether to approve such establishments based on the analysis of reports of actions that must be completed by June 2012. Moreover, the Chinese health authority held in April this year, on-site visit establishments pigs.
