The price negotiations of slaughterhouse pig market operators ended in a "reversal" of the price trend. Thus, after a sudden drop in the middle of the month, quotations partially made up for the positions lost in June: most consignments were purchased this week at 55-56+ UAH/kg, although in some places both higher and lower price offers were made. The weighted average market price this week was 55.1 UAH/kg.
Operators' feedback on the level of market activity varies significantly. While some procurers report occasional rejections of pre-ordered consignments, and others state that they have not been able to fully meet demand and are receiving additional orders, others report relative stability in sales in recent weeks. The heterogeneity of observations is also reflected in the marked divergence of prices for chilled pork halves, which processors say is caused by both a wide range of purchase prices and carryover stocks from the previous week.
At the same time, processors are preparing for further strengthening of live bait prices. However, in their opinion, the duration of the positive price trend will depend on how much the price increases next week: some of them hope for a moderate rise, which is more likely to be a consistent continuation of the recovery trend rather than a point change.
