State Committee of Ukraine for Technical Regulation and Consumer Policy found a large number of violations during inspections of producers in the first half of this year, and now intends to apply tough sanctions to enterprises producing low-quality butter, meat and sausages.
"We plan to bring order to the food market using the most stringent methods of dealing with the producers of substandard products. In particular, starting with the ban to sell low-quality products or expired goods and ending with the prohibition of production ", - said Oleg Povolotskii, the chairman of State Committee of Ukraine for Technical Regulation and Consumer Policy.
According to the press-office, during the first half of 2010 local authorities of the Committee conducted testing of sausages, butter, frozen prefabricated meat products, fresh and frozen meat producers as to meeting of standards and norms of production.
According to O. Povolotskii, testing continues, the results will be publicized in the media, in addition, in community organizations and law enforcement agencies.
