Mykola Prysiazhniuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, stated on Monday at a press conference that Ukraine intends to continue importing meat, despite the increase in its production.
"The volume of imports will be reduced by increasing the production of pork and poultry, but we will not get the full independence from imports", the Minister claimed.
Prysiazhniuk also said that Ukraine imports 150-170 thousand tons of poultry meat now.
In addition, the Minister of Agrarian Policy added that Ukraine will produce 11,2 million tons of milk till the end of the year. In this case, the domestic consumption is 9,1 million tons of milk.
"Export component of milk and dairy products increases. During the first half of the year the export component has increased by 30%. That is, Ukraine will export 2 million tons of milk in the form of cheese and fermented milk products", the Minister said.
