According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food the production of meat and meat products may be increased by 5.3% up to 2.26 mln. tons in Ukraine in 2012.
According to the date of the Ministry the pork production may increase by 7.3% up to 750 thousand tons, the production of poultry meat may increase by 5.8%, up to 1.06mln.tons, while the beef production will remain on the level of 2010(410 thousand tons).
The Ministry also notes that the demand for beef will remain on the level of 2011 and will be 420 thousand tons, the demand for pork will increase by 2.4% up to 865 thousand tons, the demand for poultry meat will increase by 3.2% up to 1.06mln.tons.
According to the earlier date of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food the import of meat may be decreased by 11.8% in 2012 in the comparison with 2011. It is expected that beef import will remain on the level of 2011(20 thousand tons), the import of pork will decrease by 11% up to 130 thousand tons, the import of poultry meat will decrease by 4.8% up to 60 thousand tons.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food also predicts the possible growth of export of meat and meat products by 12.5%, up to 90 thousand tons. The export of pork will increase by 15,4%, up to 15 thousand tons, the export of poultry meat will increase by 24%,up to 62 thousand tons, while the export of beef may decrease by 28,6% , up to 10 thousand tons.
