Pig breeding complex is about to be rebuilt in Nyva Trudova village in Apostolove district, Dnipropetrovsk region, and is designed for 108 thousand heads of pigs. The negotiations between agro industrial complex Nyva and vertically-integrated agricultural company KSG Agro has recently been finished. The result of negotiations is an agreement about merging of the assets of both enterprises. It has already been made 1900 tons of hay by today. And the preparation of succulent fodder has also started.

The general director of KSG Agro, Sergiy Mazin says:

“Our region with its territory can be compared to one of the European countries. There is a high population density; it is caused by large number of industrial enterprises. Nowadays these enterprises are being rebuilt offering new working places.

This complex was built for 108 thousand of pigs. Modern technologies of pig production enable to house them on smaller territory. We are going to make all necessary replannings and will be able to house more pigs than there were in Soviet Union times. We are obliged to use only GMO-free wheat, burley, and corn.

Will the pork produced on this farm differ from the meat produced in private sector?

The specialist of KSG Agro says: “Of course the taste of pork of slaughter pigs that were raised for shorter period of time is different from those that were raised longer. The pig raised for six months has leaner meat. But the more time is needed for the slaughter pig to be raised the more money will be spent. And the price for pork will be higher. It is possible to spend more feeds, money, etc. and raise pig during one year instead of 6 and less months. The question is about price and paying capacity of the population."
