In Luhansk region the number of pigs was increased up to 22%. It is reported by the press service of Luhansk regional administration with reference to the main department of agricultural development of the Luhansk regional state administration.
Thus, according to the results of 4 months’ work this year Luhansk region maintains and increases the volumes of the gross agricultural output, growth of which amounted to 0,5% till the corresponding period of 2009 at the expense of livestock production.
In particular, the fast-evolving industries of pig and poultry farming have been developed, the number of pigs increased up to 22%, egg production increased up to 9%, milk production is stabilized.
Recall that during yesterday's Board of Governor meeting the Vice-Chairman of regional state administration Anatolii Repitskii noted that in 2009 agriculture was under difficult financial, economic and weather conditions, in terms of sevenfold reduction of the volume of government support.
However, in 2009, he said, the agricultural enterprises expanded the sowing area to 1 million hectares (in 2008 - 0,96 ha).
It was collected more than 1 million tons of grain and more than 415 tons of sunflower seeds, which corresponds to the average amount for previous years.
In animal husbandry, the tendency of production stabilization is preserved. Increase in gross livestock production made up to 5,7%. In 2009, the increased number of cattle was increased- more than for 3 thousand units, or 3% compared to the last year amount, pigs - to 19 thousand heads (17%), sheep and goats - to 5 thousand units (8% ), poultry – more than 230 thousand (4%).
