The experts of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) arrived in Luhansk region to provide technical assistance to the area to prevent the spread of African swine fever.

As the UNIAN correspondent was reported by the press service of the region state administration, they announced about this today at the meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the RSA Alexander Olshanskiy.

According to the report, the FAO international experts arrived in Luhansk region, where during a 3-days visit they will get acquainted with the measures undertaken in the region to prevent African swine fever. Following an farms inspection results, they will share their findings with Luhansk specialists, as well as provide Luhansk with technical assistance to prevent the spread of the disease.

In terms of visits there are meetings and dialogues with local farmers who grow pigs, visiting food markets, as well as communication with the villagers who grow pigs for their own consumption. According to experts, it is small-scale productive producers who may be potentially vulnerable to the virus, since they neglect the risk of animal disease.
