The study, which involved 20 leading Ukrainian pig farms, was conducted over a nine-month period. In total, more than 300 rectal swabs from suckling piglets with signs of intestinal pathology were collected and examined. As a result, it was found that the etiologic spectrum of intestinal pathology in suckling piglets is quite diverse, however, the most common causes of diarrhea are rotaviruses of types A and C, as well as Cl. perfringens and E. coli bacteria.
In addition, the results of susceptibility monitoring confirm that multidrug-resistant enterobacteria have been detected in Ukrainian pig production facilities. More details about the monitoring results can be found in the article by Dmytro Masyuk, Natalia Neverkovets, Andrii Kokarev (Research Center for Biosafety and Environmental Control of Agricultural Resources, SAEU) "Biosafety Center" in the April issue of the magazine "Profitable Pig Production: Military Digest".
