Kovalev Yuriy Ivanovych,
General Director of the National Union of Russia pork producers
He was born on April 12,1962 in Velyka Dzhalga,Stavropol. He graduated from Stavropol Polytechnic Institute as an engineer-technologist of food production (1984).
He served in the army, and graduated from the Moscow Technologsc Institute of meat and dairy industry. In 1989 he was appointed as the head of Biryulovskii IPC refrigerator. Since 1993 - he was general director of MPZ "Kampomos" and since 2004 – the Chairman of Ltd. “Kampomos”.
Since 2005 he is general director of the IPC "Tsaritsyno”. The Doctor of Science (1993), was awarded with the State Prize in Science and Technology (1999). In 2009 he was elected as General Director of the National Union of Russia pork producers.
National Union of Pork Producers
Noncommercial association of Russian pork producers, their partners and associates, which was founded on June 30, 2009. The main goal of the Union is “the development of competitive pork production in Russia, promoting the quality of the produced meat products, and ensuring the most favorable conditions for Russian pork companies”(from the Charter of the Union). As a result of active and effective work, the number of members has increased from 55 to 126 companies from all regions of Russia for the year of existence of the Union. Among its members are such giants as "Agro - Bilohorye", “Cherkizovo” Group, “Belgorod Bacon” and others. According to Yurii Kovalev’s words, producers’ trust to the Union is related to the fact that: "... consistently and professionally protects the interests of pork business, and not only solves current problems, but also predicts future of industry in the short and long term”.
