Thus, weight-average wholesale prices in January 2010 showed essential pork price exceeding in Ukraine compared to European price – it is more than 25%. At the same time Ukrainian beef is as cheap of European meat as 31%. The price difference caused beef export growth from Ukraine and its exceeding rate over its import, while pork import primarily from European Community (46% of total import in 2009) predominates export from Ukraine which actually doesn’t exist.
Pork European pork price differs greatly in different countries. With central European price of 1306.6 euros/t (19,754 hrn/t) in January 2010 there was a minimal price in Denmark – 1088.4 euros/t (12,189 hrn/t), maximal one was in Malta - 1800 euros/t (20,384 hrn/t).Wholesale price difference made 67%.
Meanwhile average Ukrainian wholesale pork prices made 24,750 hrn, or 21% of maximal European price. The difference between the price for Ukrainian pork and minimal European one is 100%, which means that our product is twice more expensive.
